News Details (Posted: October 10, 2006):

New Battery Recycling Program

Full Description:

City government is now offering a program for all residents to safely and legally dispose of household batteries.

The program aims to help community members to comply with state household battery and universal waste laws easily. The law went into effect February this year making it illegal for batteries, electronic devices, fluorescent light bulbs and other items containing heavy metals such as mercury to be thrown into your household trash.

Lincoln City's Battery Drop-off Program has placed specially marked green battery recycling boxes all over the area, at local businesses mostly, to help get rid of hazardous wastes.

The new bins are now at Lincoln Produce, 415 A Street; Raley’s on Highway 65, The Home Depot, 1000 Groveland Lane; and Lincoln Ace Hardware at 720 5th Street.
